HOW TO START
Awareness
Many of us are conditioned from childhood to interact with horses in a certain way—they must ‘listen,’ and if they don’t, we force them to. Shifting this mindset requires questioning whether our approach is based on learned habits or true understanding.
A comparison I often use: Imagine being led across a highway by a blind person. Domination means being more afraid of disobeying the blind person than of the traffic itself. Cooperation means recognising the strengths and limitations of both parties and working together to cross safely.
Academy of Horses encourages you to question what you’ve learned, observe with clarity, and develop a personalised approach based on knowledge and experience. It’s not a rigid system—because no person, no horse, and no day are ever the same. Instead, it provides a toolbox that allows you to create a unique, evolving interaction with every horse you meet.
